How Fibromyalgia is Associated with Guillain Barre?

By: Dr Alex Robber

Many individuals wonder whether Guillain-barre and fibromyalgia syndrome are linked. Both causes fairly comparable symptoms for those suffering from them, making it simple to see why individuals believe that Guillain-barre syndrome is associated with fibromyalgia. But there? But there? Let’s look at the precise nature of these illnesses and their relationship.

Understanding Guillain-barre Syndrome

Guillain-barre syndrome is a disease that causes your body’s immune system to begin to attack your nervous system (which in fact is pronounced ein-yay buh-ray in case you are wondering). Nobody really understands what causes it, but the fact that it often begins after a severe disease means that your body may overreact to exposure to a virus.

Therefore in a healthy individual, you see that the immune system operates to attack foreign cells such as viruses or bacteria’s by sending white blood cells. However, the white cells become too vulnerable and start confusing their own cells with foreign invaders with autoimmune illnesses such as Guillain barre syndrome. So, the body therefore attacks itself fundamentally for individuals with an autoimmune disease.

This leads to a host of symptoms in those with Guillain-barre. Including:

  • Severe lower back pain
  • Muscle aches and fatigue
  • A tingly feeling in your limbs that leads to numbness

Therefore in general, the disease develops following a struck or stabbed finger disease and extends into the remainder of the body. However it’s getting harder to move your muscles as the illness spreads. Because guillain-barre syndrome can lead to complete paralysis in a few minutes, in serious instances. If the paralysis spreads into the lungs that prevents breathing, it can be deadly.

For most people, though the recovery can take weeks or even months, it is usually solved. The condition obviously needs therapy by physicians.

Understanding Fibromyalgia and Guillain Barre

Therefore another condition which causes many symptoms of this kind is fibromyalgia. Because it creates muscle weariness and tiredness and leads to downside pain. So, nobody knows what causes fibromyalgia, but many individuals think it can be an autoimmune illness too.

However the same thing, which is nerve-attacking the immune system, may lead both to Guillain-barre syndrome and fibromyalgia. Currently, however, nobody knows precisely how fibromyalgia causes its symptoms.

However, in a few important respects it is certainly distinct from Guillain Barre Syndrome. Instead of the generalized pain of GBS, the pain first comes into 18 particular points on the body. Secondly, fibromyalgia individuals are not gradually paralyzed, as GBS do individuals. Finally, although Guillain-barre syndrome usually recovers in several weeks or months, there is no efficient cure for the fibromyalgia over time and time.

Because no one knows exactly what the connection between Guillain barre’s syndrome is with fibromyalgia.

Understanding Link Guillain-barre Syndrome and Fibromyalgia

Well, here’s where stuff gets awkward. We are well aware of the comparable effects that both guillain-barre and fibromyalgia cause. Therefore we understand both attack muscles. And we understand. But they are both the same type of disease, it doesn’t become apparent.

But it seems that there is a link that Guillain-barre can lead to fibromyalgia. It seems. A combination of Guillain-barre syndrome is often very painful in the body. And that kind of trauma could cause fibromyalgia has been created.

Actually, individuals with Guillain-barre reported having fibromyalgia diagnosed after recovery from GBS. So, you could also trigger fibromyalgia after the excessive sensitization of your immune system that comes with GBS. This could be a complete coincidence, then again.

Unfortunately, while fibromyalgia sufferers show anecdotal proof to indicate a connection between fibromyalgia and Guillain-barre syndrome, up to now physicians have not demonstrated this either way. But yet, they seem to have something to do, right? After all, they appear to have a comparable effect on the body. It seems therefore likely to lead to breakthroughs in studying the nerve syndromes produced by chrons, if there is a better knowledge of the fundamental features that cause the two circumstances.

Therefore that gives us hope to understand one day the relation between guillain and fibromyalgia syndrome. And this can give both diseases a better opportunity to cure.
